On Sunday, September 8, 2026, Planet Fitness of Denham Springs decided to make a difference in the lives of local first responders.
Denham Springs Fire Department and Fire Protection District 4 both received an outlay of cadio-based workout equipment from the gym.
"Cardiac arrest is the number 1 killer of members in the fire service, which is why Planet Fitness Denham Springs is donating fitness equipment to both the Denham Springs and Livingston Parish Fire Departments," the gym said in a statement. "Fitness training lowers the risk of cardiac arrest primarily by targeting and reversing these underlying vascular and structural root causes."
A total of 12 pieces of equipment were donated including:
"Planet Fitness is helping prepare firefighters for the heat, weight, and unpredictability of real emergencies - making them not only fitter, but safer and more effective on the job," the statement continued. "Firefighters even work out with their equipment on for endurance in dire situations."
