DENHAM SPRINGS. La. — Denham Springs police, with assistance from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and the Baton Rouge Police Department, have made an arrest in connection with an armed robbery that targeted an employee of Off The Hook restaurant earlier this month.
Carlos Brooks, 42, has been charged with armed robbery involving the use of a firearm after investigators linked him to the incident that occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on Nov. 16 at the restaurant on South Range Avenue.
According to the Denham Springs Police Department, video footage from the scene shows a Black male arriving in a black Chevrolet Silverado. Investigators say the suspect confronted an employee as the employee returned from the bank. The suspect allegedly brandished a firearm, demanded money and took approximately $500 before fleeing the area.
In an earlier report, police said the gunman was dressed entirely in black, with his face covered by a hoodie and mask, and that the suspect fled in a dark-colored, late-model Chevrolet Silverado that was seen traveling south on South Range Avenue. Detectives also believed at the time that a second suspect may have been waiting in the truck before the gunman entered through the rear driver’s side and fled the scene.
Authorities credited both investigative work and tips from the public in helping identify and locate the suspect. The case remains under investigation, and additional charges or arrests could follow.
