DENHAM SPRINGS — A Denham Springs police officer was recognized this week for his actions in helping rescue a man from a burning vehicle.
Officer Josh Williams was presented with a life-saving award by Chief Rodney Walker after his sergeant reported the officer’s efforts at the scene of a vehicle fire. According to police, Williams worked to free the driver from the car while it was on fire, continuing his efforts until the fire department arrived to assist.
With the combined response of Officer Williams and the Denham Springs Fire Department, the man was pulled from the vehicle and suffered only minor injuries. Authorities said the outcome could have been far more serious without the quick actions taken at the scene.
Chief Walker praised Officer Williams for his dedication and commitment to public safety, noting that his actions played a key role in preventing serious injury or loss of life.
