DSPD double-fatality update - Truck crossed mountable curb on Range Avenue, causing crash

On January 12, 2026, at approximately 6:13 p.m., four vehicles were involved in a collision on South Range Ave. (LA 3002) near Hazelnut St.

Initial reports indicate that a Ford F250 driving northbound crossed the mountable curb divider and collided with a Nissan Maxima, as well as two other vehicles. At this time authorities are unsure as to why the driver of the Ford F250 crossed the mountable curb divider. 

The Livingston Parish Coroner's office identified the deceased as 69-year-old Michael Wale of Denham Springs, and 65-year-old Richard McLaren of Ball. The drivers of the other two vehicles sustained minor injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which is currently under investigation.

INITIAL REPORT

 On January 12, 2026 at approximately 6:13 p.m., the Denham Springs Police Department was dispatched to a crash on South Range Ave. at Hazelnut St. involving four vehicles. 

Police advise that two people were confirmed deceased at the scene. 

This accident is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
