Walker recently held their 2nd annual Fall Festival and Gospel Concert this Saturday, October 17, at Sidney Hutchinson Park. Beautiful weather and cool breezes made for the perfect backdrop as attendees enjoyed everything the festival had to offer.

Vendors included familiar shops that often appear at community events, like The Pretty Willow and Fun Time Slime, as well as some newer faces such as LuParis Dolls and Girlinghouse Farms Honey. Several shops had containers filled with candy and goodie bags for anyone interested in a sweet treat.

Food stalls sold classic festival items such as funnel cakes, fried Oreos, corn dogs, kettle corn, and cotton candy, as well as an assortment of non-traditional festival foods like tacos, quesadillas, jambalaya, and Italian ice.

Several inflatable carnival games and activities held the attending children’s attention all evening long.

Among the inflatable carnival games, such as the soft ring toss and a basketball-throwing inflatable, there was also a large bounce castle, football toss net, and a hay bale ride for the whole family.

Pumpkin painting was a smash hit, as was the petting zoo, featuring two friendly goats and pigs, and face painting booths had lines of eager children stretching into the distance.

Agape Baptist Church had a tent where people bid on intricately designed and painted homemade birdhouses. The birdhouse styles ranged from large barns to Barbie dreamhouses and even two matching Mickey-and-Minnie style houses.

Several bands provided live entertainment, including Cooksey Family Legacy, Catahoula Drive, Chronicle with Sax, and Crescent City Worship. Each band covered different styles and songs of worship music for the event’s Gospel Concert, with a large field full of people enjoying the music all festival long.

A scavenger hunt, hosted by the Walker Park information tent, had everyone visit each vendor tent for a stamp, then circle back for their grand prizes. The information tent also handed out glow bracelets as it got darker outside.

The 4-hour event drew large crowds and offered multiple fun, family-friendly activities for all ages, making this year’s fall fest a rousing success.
