The Livingston Parish Fair, an annual event, is being held this year on the Livingston Parish Fairgrounds from October 6th to the 11th. The fair often opens and closes at different times each day, so consulting the fair's daily schedule before going is a must!
Entrance to the fair is free, however there is a fee, between $20 and $30 depending on the time of day, to get a wristband that allows attendees to ride all rides available on the grounds. Carnival games are pay to play, with many booths this year boasting that kids can pay once and then play until they win a prize. A few stalls are set up selling novelty items such as hats, plushies, jewelry, and children’s toy swords, however several only take cash as payment.
Attendees who pay the fee can enjoy rides like the iconic Ferris wheel, a Carousel, spinning strawberries, The Scrambler, a Himalayas themed ride, and several more rides, including plenty of smaller ones designed for children. Excitingly, the rides can be ridden as many times as desired and don’t have a limit of one ride per wristband.
Attendees can enjoy several different events every day of the fair. October 6th had an Elementary Fun Bowl, Jr High Academic Fun Bowl, and 6th Grade Spelling Bee.
The 7th has a mobile visit from Livingston Parish Library with story time and a “Mutton Bustin” event. The 8th offers poultry and rabbit judging for 4-H livestock competition participants and a talent show. The 9th is a proclaimed “older folks day” with 4-H livestock judging and a Cajun Rodeo Association (CRA) Rodeo. Tomorrow, the 10th, opens with a pet registration for a pet show later in the day, with pageants including categories for: Petite & Tiny Miss, Little & Deb Miss, Teen & Jr. miss, and an Evening Gown Senior Pageant.
The last day of the fair, the 11th, sees all the exhibits removed, however the carnival rides are still open until 6 PM that day.
The exhibits in question include student made dioramas from several local schools, decorated posters from local schools’ 2026 poster competition winners, and several hand-crafted or cultivated items that won competitions including quilts, crocheted items, dolls, preserves, and plants.
Additionally, next door to the exhibit room is the 4-H livestock pens where attendees can meet several award winning cows, goats, rabbits, roosters, chickens, horses, and more.
Outside of rides and shops, there are also face painting, henna temporary tattoos, and pet adoption services available throughout the days.
Ultimately, there’s something at the fair for everyone to enjoy. From fair food to fun rides, it’s a riot, especially with the lights shining bright at night. With only two days left, it’s time to enjoy the spin-tacular fair before it packs up until next year!
