A former Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office employee was arrested on five counts of forgery following a financial crimes investigation that began last month.
Courtney Moran, 46, was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center after detectives determined that several names had been forged on notarized mortgage documents, including deferred payment agreements and loan modifications.
The investigation began March 23 when a complainant reported that his credit score had been negatively impacted while applying for a vehicle loan. During his own research, he identified documents he believed were forged. He also told detectives he had recently divorced a deputy with the LPSO.
Sheriff Jason Ard said witnesses confirmed they did not consent to their names, signatures or identities being used to verify the documents.
Moran had worked with the LPSO for eight years as a clerical deputy at the Livingston Parish Detention Center. She resigned following her arrest.
The investigation is ongoing.
