Comic convention fans in Lafayette and across Acadiana have something new to look forward to: GatorVerse Comic Con is coming to Lafayette on Saturday, July 17, 2027.
GatorVerse Comic Con, LLC today announced its inaugural one-day convention at the Frem F. Boustany Convention Center at the Heymann Center, creating a new family-friendly destination for comic book fans, collectors, gamers, cosplayers, artists and pop culture enthusiasts throughout the region.
The announcement comes as Lafayette-area fans look forward to a new chapter for local comic convention events. (Note:GatorVerse Comic Con is an independently organized event and is NOT affiliated with the now retired Louisiana Comic Con or its producer Humble Enterprises, LLC.)
“Our goal is to create something that belongs to the fans of Acadiana,” said Kelli Romero, Co-Founder of GatorVerse Comic Con, LLC. “There is an incredible community of comic book fans, collectors, gamers, artists and cosplayers throughout this region. We want to give that community a place to come together, celebrate what they love and make new memories.”
A New Convention for Acadiana
GatorVerse Comic Con is being designed as a family-friendly celebration of comics, collectibles, gaming, cosplay and pop culture. The inaugural event is planned to feature 72 vendor and artist spaces, along with a variety of
attractions and activities for fans of all ages.
Planned convention features include:
Strong Local Roots
GatorVerse Comic Con’s Presenting Sponsor is Stronghold Collectibles, a locally owned business with deep roots in the Acadiana comic book and collectibles community.
“We are excited to help bring a new comic convention to Acadiana,” said
Jason Strong, co-owner of Stronghold Collectibles. “As a local business with a
long history in the comic and collectibles community, we are proud to support an
event that gives fans, creators, artists and vendors an opportunity to connect right
here in Lafayette.”
Local Gaming and Trading Card Collectibles Retailers Join the Lineup
GatorVerse Comic Con is also proud to welcome two more Acadiana businesses as Featured sponsors. Cajun Card Breaker of Youngsville has signed on and will host a One Piece Trading Card Game tournament at the convention. Sanctuary Games and Comics of Lafayette also joins as a sponsor, adding to the region's tabletop and gaming presence. They will be sponsoring a Smash Video Game Tournament and Pokémon Trading Card Game Tournament.
""Acadiana's tabletop and gaming community deserves a hometown show, and we're proud to help make GatorVerse Comic Con happen. This is going to be a great day for local gamers and fans across Acadiana. " said Dan Boudreaux, Owner of Sanctuary Games and Comics.
“Cajun Breaker Sports Cards & Collectibles’ primary focus is bringing collectors and players together to create a family friendly community, so partnering with GatorVerse Comic Con was an easy decision. We're looking forward to a great show." said Nick LaFleur, Owner, Cajun Breaker Sports Cards & Collectibles.
“We are thrilled to welcome GatorVerse Comic Con to the Frem F. Boustany
Convention Center,” said Dennis Skerrett, Venue Administrator – Arts &
Culture Manager at Heymann Performing Arts and Convention Center. “Our
facilities are uniquely positioned to host this dynamic, community-driven event that
brings families and pop culture enthusiasts together under one roof.”
