Giant robots return to Denham Springs for the 12th annual Dow Red Stick Rumble

DENHAM SPRINGS, La. – The twelfth annual Dow Red Stick Rumble returns to Denham Springs High School on Saturday, September 13, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring 21 FIRST® Robotics Competition teams and 29 robots in one of the most exciting offseason robotics events in the region.

Participating teams will be from across Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida, bringing months of innovation, strategy, and hard-earned preparation.

The battle will unfold under the rules of the 2025 FRC game, Reefscape℠ presented by Haas, a deep-sea–themed challenge where robots score “Coral” (PVC pipes) and “Algae” (playground balls) into alliance goals, then make daring climbs onto a truss structure called the Barge to earn vital endgame points.

“This event isn’t just about robots—it’s about what these students are learning through the process,” said Daniel Eiland, Red Stick Rumble Coordinator. “When you're watching these robots, you're not just seeing kids training to be engineers. You're seeing students who’ve learned to fundraise, create business partnerships, develop marketing and presentation materials, and speak confidently with government officials.”

“In many ways, they’re already running a full-scale organization. The end result? We’re building your next well-trained hire,” Eiland said.

Dow returns as the Title Sponsor for the twelfth year, continuing its deep commitment to STEM education and youth innovation. The event is also supported by community partners, volunteers, and educators from across the state.

The Red Stick Rumble is free and open to the public, with food and drinks available for purchase from the Denham Springs High School snack bar.

Attendees are encouraged to bring donations to support Rescue, Rehome, Repeat, a local no-kill dog rescue organization. Needed items include food, toys, and supplies to assist foster families caring for dogs in transition.
