The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has partnered with the National Rifle Association (NRA) to offer free online hunter education certification for all Louisiana residents.

The new course, which is fully online and available at no cost, provides a convenient alternative to in-person classes and fulfills the hunter education requirement for residents born after Sept. 1, 1969.

Featuring 15 interactive chapters with videos, graphics, and real-life visuals, the course can be completed anytime and from any device.

“Promoting safe and ethical hunting is our priority,” said LDWF Secretary Tyler Bosworth. “This partnership expands access to this required course, giving more people the opportunity to get certified conveniently and at no cost.”

The curriculum was developed by the organization that created the nation’s first hunter education program in 1949. The online option is designed to accommodate new hunters, youth, and others looking to complete certification ahead of the fall hunting season.
