Nineteen 4-H members from Livingston Parish participated in the 111th annual 4-H University, held June 17–19, 2025, on the campus of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Formerly known as Short Course, the event brought together youth from across the state to compete, learn, and lead under this year’s theme, “Leading the New Frontier.”
Participants had the opportunity to compete in one of 41 statewide contests or attend one of 20 educational sessions. Two local students, Jezebelle H. and Lance L., opted to participate in Clover College, a track designed for 4-H members not competing in contests. Clover College offered eight hands-on educational tracks focused on leadership, science, and communication.
Several Livingston Parish 4-H members earned top honors in their competitive categories:
Baylee R. – 3rd Place, Fashion Revue: “It’s Sew You”
Olivia V. – 7th Place, Fashion Revue: “It’s Sew You”
Logan V. – 8th Place, STEM Illustrated Talk; 10th Place, Career Preparation
Julianna E. – 5th Place, STEM Method Demonstration
Kallianna A. – 7th Place, Healthy Living Demonstration
Additionally, Ruston G., Lance L., Heizel C., and Jezebelle H. participated in the statewide Visual Arts Contest.
Each evening, participants attended assemblies held at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC). On Tuesday night, former NFL lineman and motivational speaker Caleb Campbell delivered an inspiring keynote. Wednesday’s assembly featured a lively game show, “Leadership Showdown,” where members competed for prizes. The week concluded with Awards Night on Thursday, which welcomed family members to join in celebrating the achievements of 4-H youth from across Louisiana.
Livingston Parish also had eight members selected to serve as state 4-H board members or ambassadors for the 2025–2026 school year:
Ruston G., Olivia V., and Logan V. – STEM Board
Haleigh N. – Food & Fitness Board
Jezebelle H. and Charleigh M. – Citizenship Board
