Livingston Parish declares state of emergency amid winter storm

Livingston Parish officials have declared a state of emergency due to a severe winter storm bringing freezing rain, ice accumulation, and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the declaration, the emergency began at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, and is scheduled to remain in effect through 11:59 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, unless it is terminated earlier or extended by further proclamation.

The declaration cites threats to public safety, critical infrastructure, and essential public services, as well as the potential for damage to public and private property across the parish.

The order was issued by Randy Delatte, parish president, and Chris Anderson, director of the Livingston Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and authorizes emergency actions to protect life, preserve property, and ensure continuity of government operations.
