LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA — [October 20, 2025] — Livingston Parish is taking the next step toward a comprehensive approach to drainage and flood mitigation. The Parish Government is inviting residents to attend the first round of public meetings for the Livingston Parish Drainage Master Plan (DMP). The meetings will provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about ongoing efforts to improve drainage, reduce flood risk, and strengthen community resilience across the parish.
About the Livingston Parish Drainage Master Plan
The Livingston Parish Drainage Master Plan is a comprehensive, data-driven effort to evaluate the parish’s drainage systems, identify flood risks, and develop long-term solutions to improve infrastructure and reduce flood damage through improved floodplain mapping.
The open house meetings will be held from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the following regional locations:
Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting most convenient to their location.
“This is an important opportunity for our residents to share what they see on the ground every day,” said Parish President Randy Delatte. “Local knowledge will directly inform drainage strategies that will help protect our homes, businesses, and roadways from the risks of future flooding.”
During the meetings, attendees can visit a series of informational stations highlighting the major components of the Drainage Master Plan, including data collection, existing conditions analysis, drainage criteria manual updates, floodplain ordinance updates, FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS) participation, and the parish’s ongoing efforts to identify and prioritize drainage improvements.
“The Open House format allows residents to engage directly with project representatives at their own pace and learn how the DMP will guide future flood mitigation and infrastructure planning.”
