LIVINGSTON, La. — A Livingston Parish jury has convicted 31-year-old Faron Dillon on five counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon following a three-day jury trial held in Livingston Parish.

21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux reports that Dillon was found guilty after evidence showed that Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team members were attempting to execute an arrest warrant out of Lafayette Parish for home invasion and aggravated assault with a firearm when Dillon opened fire on law enforcement officers from inside his residence.

The case stems from a January 3, 2025 incident in Livingston Parish. According to evidence presented at trial, members of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team spent hours attempting to peacefully bring Dillon out of the residence through the use of loudspeakers and verbal commands. Instead of surrendering, Dillon, a convicted felon,  fired eight rounds from a bedroom window directly toward deputies positioned outside the home.

At trial, the jury heard testimony from responding law enforcement officers, Special Response Team members, investigators, and neighbors involved in the incident. Jurors were also presented with physical evidence, drone footage, and dash camera video documenting the events surrounding the standoff and shooting.

Assistant District Attorneys Amanda Liotto and Serena Birch prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Louisiana.

“This verdict reflects the serious danger law enforcement officers faced while attempting to carry out their duties,” Perrilloux said. “The professionalism and restraint shown by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team during an extremely volatile and dangerous situation undoubtedly prevented further tragedy.”

Judge William Dykes presided over the trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for the end of June.
