Livingston Parish launches website for historic drainage master plan

LIVINGSTON — In a major step toward improving flood resilience parishwide, Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte announced the launch of the official website for the Livingston Parish Drainage Master Plan (DMP), the first comprehensive drainage strategy in the parish’s history.

“This marks a transformative moment for our community,” Delatte said in a statement. “We are proud to share this historic initiative with the public.”

The newly launched website serves as a central hub for information about the DMP, offering detailed explanations of the plan’s goals, methods, and long-term benefits. One of its key features is an interactive map that allows residents to explore specific areas of the parish and identify flood-prone zones.

Officials are urging residents to use the map to report personal experiences with flooding, including frequently impacted areas and drainage systems that appear to be malfunctioning. That local input, Delatte said, will help guide how and where improvements are prioritized.

“This isn’t just a top-down plan—it’s a community-driven effort,” Delatte said. “Your firsthand knowledge is invaluable. Together, we can build a safer and more secure Livingston Parish for current and future generations.”

The parish encourages all residents to visit the site and contribute feedback as the plan moves forward.
