Every week, Livingston Parish Library branches offer storytimes for babies through age 5. Storytimes help develop pre-reading skills while children and their caregivers have lots of fun! We read books, present puppet shows, sing songs, play games, and make cool crafts.

The ASB Book Club meets on the last Monday of the month from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., except for holidays. Titles are selected from member suggestions as well as librarian cultivation. Members are encouraged to read titles in the club that they might not normally pick up on their own, expanding their literary horizons.

Poison has long brewed beneath the surface of great literature – and now it’s steeping in your teacup. Join us for a wickedly refined morning where tea is served with a side of suspense. Louisiana State University PhD candidate Amber Jurgensen will guide guests through the sinister world of poison in classic and contemporary literature, exploring how deadly substances have shaped stories in print. Enjoy a tasty spread of teas and treats while uncovering the chilling role of toxins in tales of mystery, betrayal, and revenge. An event for adults who enjoy their tea a little twisted. Start a “threadition” for your family by learning to sew and embroider by hand. Learn some of the stitches and techniques that your grandmothers used to make and decorate useful items like clothes, quilts, and pillowcases. This year-long series will teach the basics of hand applique, hand piecing and hand quilting, as well as hand embroidery through the medium of creating a slow stitch journal - one fabric page for every month of the year. Kickstart your creativity for the month ahead by joining us on the first Saturday of every month for a fun, hands-on craft that you can make and take home – all in one visit! Whether you’re a kid or an adult, we’ve got something for everyone, so you can craft with flair! Each month features a brand-new project, and we’ve got all the supplies you need, so you can just drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., craft, and go. Come when you can, craft like a pro, and head out with your masterpiece!
