Livingston Parish Lions Club celebrates year of service

WATSON, La. — Members of the Livingston Parish Lions Club gathered with family and friends at Rudy’s Seafood & Steakhouse for the club’s annual banquet, celebrating a year of service and recognizing members for their contributions to the community.

Christy Sorenson was named the 2025-2026 Lion of the Year for her dedication, leadership, and commitment to service.

The Membership Key was presented to the family and friends of the late Paeton Burkett, who recruited the most new members to join the club.

Community Impact Awards were presented to Jonathan R. Prestridge, Marilyn Judge, Carrie Andrepont, Jeremy Muse, Catherine Brindley, Christy Sorenson, Brice Larson, and Dominick Jude Abrams.

Members were also recognized for their work supporting Lions Clubs International’s global initiatives.

Environment awards went to Brindley, Ardith ArNeal, Teosha Nelson, Lydia Roberts, Paulette Roberts, Judge, Larson, Prestridge, and Sorenson. Hunger awards were presented to Andie Andrews and ArNeal.

Judge, Paulette Roberts, ArNeal, and Andrepont were recognized for their work supporting vision initiatives. Humanitarian awards went to Paulette Roberts, Larson, Sorenson, and Ray Riley.

The program also included a moment of remembrance for departed Lions, the introduction of the club’s young Cub Club members, recognition of outgoing officers, and the installation of officers for the 2026-2027 year.

The club will begin the new Lions year by continuing its service efforts throughout Livingston Parish and beyond.
