LIVINGSTON, La. — The Livingston Parish Government Litter Abatement Department has received a $12,000 donation from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund to support parish litter initiatives, illegal dumping prevention efforts, and environmental education programs.

Parish President Randy Delatte said the funds will help continue litter abatement services and environmental education efforts throughout Livingston Parish schools and communities.

"Our parish will be able to continue our litter abatement initiatives, including five-day-per-week parish litter cleanups, free parish resident drop-off events, and environmental education programs in our K-5 classrooms as a result of this grant," Delatte said.

The Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund supports hundreds of organizations and programs in rural and urban communities through funding, volunteer time, expertise, and resources. Weyerhaeuser made its first charitable donation in 1903 and has provided more than $276 million in grants through its formal giving program, established in 1948.

The Livingston Parish Government Litter Abatement Department works to reduce litter and illegal dumping throughout the parish through cleanup initiatives, public outreach, environmental education, and community partnerships.

Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world's largest private owners of timberlands, began operations in 1900 and today owns or controls approximately 10.4 million acres of timberlands in the United States, along with additional public timberlands managed under long-term licenses in Canada. The company manages all of its timberlands on a fully sustainable basis in compliance with internationally recognized forestry standards and is one of the largest manufacturers of wood products in North America.
