LIVINGSTON, La. — Livingston Parish Public Schools has maintained its “A” rating for student achievement, according to the Louisiana Department of Education’s latest accountability report released Nov. 20.
The district’s overall Performance Score increased to 92.7, up 1.8 points from last year and 3.2 points since the 2022–23 school year. The gain moved Livingston Parish from 10th to 9th among Louisiana school districts.
“Maintaining an ‘A’ rating reflects more than numbers — it showcases the hard work of our students, the passion of our educators and the unwavering support of our community,” Superintendent Jody Purvis said.
Major highlights of the report include:
• District Performance Score of 92.7
• Increase of 1.8 points from last year
• Moved from 10th to 9th highest-ranked district in Louisiana
• 12 schools earned an “A” rating
• 27 schools earned a “B” rating
• Only 3 schools received a “C,” down from 7 last year
• “A” ratings in graduation rate, assessment progress and strength of diploma
• 23 schools improved overall performance
• 28 schools earned an “A” progress index
• 12 schools ranked in the top 10% statewide for subgroup performance
• Early childhood programs earned a 5.75 “Highly Proficient” rating
• 14 elementary schools rated “Excellent,” up from nine last year
The 12 schools earning an “A” rating are Albany High, Denham Springs High, Doyle High, Eastside Elementary, French Settlement High, Holden School, Juban Parc Elementary, Live Oak High, North Live Oak Elementary, South Live Oak Elementary, Springfield High and Walker High.
Fourteen elementary schools earned an “Excellent” rating: Albany Lower Elementary, Denham Springs Elementary, French Settlement Elementary, Frost School, Juban Parc Elementary, Levi Milton Elementary, Lewis Vincent Elementary, Live Oak Elementary, Maurepas School, North Corbin Elementary, North Live Oak Elementary, Northside Elementary, Springfield Elementary and Walker Elementary.
Statewide, the average District Performance Score was 80.9, which earned Louisiana an overall “B” rating. Twelve school districts earned an “A,” including West Feliciana, Plaquemines, Ascension, DeSoto, Cameron, Zachary Community, Central Community, Vernon, Livingston, Lincoln, Vermilion and St. Charles. Across the state, 39 districts earned a “B,” 16 a “C” and four a “D.”
This release marks the final year under the state’s current accountability formula. Beginning next year, Louisiana will transition to a new framework called Grow. Achieve. Thrive. which will evaluate schools based on three goals: annual academic growth, subject proficiency and preparation for college, career or service.
