The work of Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors of Avon, Indiana, had been held up because of demand on the company, one of the few water tower contractors in the country, said Mayor Jonathan "JT" Taylor.
The work is being financed in part by a $4.9 million grant the town feared it might lose if the work was not resumed in a timely manner, but Taylor said that is no longer a concern.
The council also approved the rezoning of property at 30060 North Range Road from R-1 (Rural Residential District) to CN (Neighborhood Commercial Corridor District) to allow for construction by Landmark Church of Livingston. The zoning change allows for a building of a maximum of 4,000 square feet.
A proposed ordinance to amend the town's Code of Ordinances by amending a section of its zoning regulations was introduced, and a public hearing on the matter was scheduled for the council's July 9 meeting.
Stewart told the council that 15 players had signed up so far for the town recreation department's football program and that registration continues at a cost of $105 per player. Registration for cheer is now open and will run until July 31.
Plans are also set for the town's July 4 celebration, to be held in conjunction with the nation's 250th birthday.
