Louisiana rolls out redesigned absentee ballot envelopes ahead of October election

Baton Rouge, La. – Louisiana voters casting absentee ballots in the upcoming October 11 election will notice a few important changes when their ballots arrive in the mail.

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office announced this week that redesigned absentee ballot envelopes are being rolled out with larger print and easier-to-follow instructions, aimed at improving accessibility and reducing voter confusion.

“Big news!” the office shared in a Facebook post. “Voters who have requested an absentee ballot for the October 11 elections should expect to see our newly redesigned absentee ballot envelopes soon.”

The new design is part of the state’s ongoing effort to modernize election materials and make the voting process more user-friendly, especially for seniors, voters with visual impairments, and first-time absentee voters. The improved layout is expected to help prevent common ballot errors that can lead to ballots being rejected.

The Secretary of State’s Office also released a short YouTube video walking voters through the updated design and offering guidance on how to properly complete and return an absentee ballot.

Voters who wish to learn more about absentee voting or how Louisiana protects election integrity can visit GeauxVote.com, the state’s official election information portal.

Voters are encouraged to check their registration status, request absentee ballots early if eligible, and follow all instructions carefully to ensure their votes are counted.
