BATON ROUGE — The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office received formal recognition from the Louisiana Senate this week after State Sen. Valerie Hodges called Sheriff Jason Ard and members of the LPSO to the Senate floor.
Hodges highlighted two major accomplishments. The first was LPSO's seizure of approximately 361 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at roughly $4 million, the largest drug seizure in the agency's history and among the largest in Louisiana. The second was the creation of the LPSO Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which operates in partnership with the Louisiana Attorney General's office and has worked to identify and apprehend child predators.
The Senate resolution commended Ard and the LPSO "for their outstanding achievements in combating illegal drug trafficking and protecting children through the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force."
The recognition covered LPSO Narcotics, the ICAC unit, and Uniform Patrol.
