LIVINGSTON, La. - Livingston Parish law enforcement agencies will increase patrols and enforcement efforts targeting impaired drivers through Sunday, Sept. 1, as part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with several other local agencies, will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety enforcement operations across the parish. Specific times and locations will not be released in advance.
“This is about protecting our citizens from those who choose to drink and drive,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “We are working together to keep our roadways safe.”
The initiative is funded by federal dollars administered through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, which covers overtime pay for officers participating in the campaign.
Motorists are urged to drive responsibly, avoid impaired driving, and comply with all Louisiana traffic laws, especially as the Labor Day holiday approaches — a period often associated with increased roadway incidents.
