A 40-year-old man has been arrested following a Feb. 18 disturbance in the Walker area that left another man hospitalized with burn injuries, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to Buck Carroll Road in reference to a disturbance involving a man suffering burn wounds.
Sheriff Jason Ard said deputies located the victim with burns to the front of his body. Investigators determined the incident occurred inside a makeshift tin shack next to a burned-out residence owned by an acquaintance of the victim.
Authorities said the two men gave conflicting accounts of what led to the incident. One reported the burns occurred without provocation, while the other claimed the altercation involved unwanted sexual advances.
After the incident, both men ran to separate neighboring homes to call 911, officials said.
The victim remains hospitalized.
James Page, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated second-degree battery. He remains in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
