WALKER — Our Lady of the Lake Health has announced plans for a major expansion at Our Lady of the Lake Livingston, including the parish’s first and only 24-hour emergency department observation unit.
The new unit will add 10 beds and be staffed by 12 board-certified physicians and advanced practice nurses, all cross-trained in emergency services, according to hospital officials.
Construction is expected to begin later this month, with completion anticipated in spring 2026. The project represents an investment of more than $5 million.
Chuck Spicer, president of Our Lady of the Lake Health, said the expansion reflects the hospital’s commitment to bringing more resources to a fast-growing parish.
“Our Lady of the Lake Health is excited to announce plans to expand at Our Lady of the Lake Livingston,” Spicer said. “This latest announcement echoes Our Lady of the Lake Health’s commitment to providing quality healthcare, closer to home for the Livingston community. We look forward to continuing to meet the needs of this growing community.”
The new observation unit will serve patients who require extended monitoring and care but do not need to be admitted for a full hospital stay. Officials said the addition is aimed at improving access to emergency care and reducing the need for residents to travel outside the parish for treatment.
