DENHAM SPRINGS — Denham Springs police recovered more than 3,100 grams of marijuana after a driver fled from officers during a high-speed pursuit Sunday night.

According to the Denham Springs Police Department, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on South Range Avenue at approximately 8:07 p.m. for a tinted windshield violation and failure to use a turn signal.

The driver refused to stop and entered Interstate 12 westbound, reaching speeds of approximately 120 mph, police said. The pursuit continued into Baton Rouge, where the driver reportedly disregarded traffic signals and gained distance from pursuing officers.

Police later found the vehicle abandoned near Norwick Avenue and O’Neal Lane. The driver was not taken into custody, but investigators have identified a possible suspect.

Officers searched the vehicle and recovered approximately 3,101 grams of marijuana and an undisclosed quantity of pills. The pills will be submitted for testing to determine their composition.

The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed.
