LIVINGSTON, La. — Yoga mats met wagging tails Saturday morning as the Livingston Parish Animal Shelter hosted its first-ever Puppy Yoga event, bringing residents together for a lighthearted morning of stretching, smiles, and shelter support.
The event, held at the shelter’s new adoption center on Florida Boulevard, featured a Stretch & Flow yoga class led by Brittney Robert of Yoga Studio 90, who donated her time for the fundraiser. As participants moved through the class, shelter puppies wandered the room, offering cuddles, kisses, and plenty of distractions.
Participants were asked to make a minimum donation of $15, either through shelter supplies or a monetary contribution. All proceeds went directly to the Livingston Parish Animal Shelter to help care for animals in need.
In a follow-up Facebook post after the event, the shelter said the turnout exceeded expectations and thanked the community for its support. The shelter also gave a special thank you to Robert for helping lead the event.
For those who missed the event, the shelter remains open for adoptions, with adoption fees reduced to $25 throughout July.
