Routine traffic stop leads to arrest by Denham Springs Police Department for drugs, firearms

On August 25, 2026, at approximately 4:20 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Florida Avenue SW and 4-H Club Road for a minor traffic violation.

As officers approached the vehicle, they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of marijuana, a stolen firearm, Schedule II controlled substances, Schedule IV controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, 33-year-old Terrance Richardson of Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with:

  • License plate light required
  • Driving under suspension
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I
  • Possession of Schedule II drugs
  • Possession of Schedule IV drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a firearm with drugs
  • Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
