BATON ROUGE, La. – Senator Rick Edmonds (District 6/East Baton Rouge, Livingston, and St. Helena) announces the launch of Louisiana’s first Telecare Clinic for pregnant women in need.  The program, Thrive: The Baby and Parent Network, is administrated by the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DCFS) and operated by Human Coalition, an organization with over a decade of experience in reaching women who are facing unexpected pregnancies and providing them with holistic, life-affirming care.

“It has been my honor to champion the Thrive program for Louisiana families,” said Senator Edmonds.  “I’m thrilled that women across the state will now have access to Human Coalition’s team of nurses and social workers. These professionals will connect moms with critical on-the-ground resources to meet their needs and help them build long-term stability.  This pro-woman, life-affirming approach breaks down barriers to care and strengthens Louisiana’s culture of life.”

Officially launched today in Louisiana, Senator Edmonds sponsored the legislation to establish the program in the state.  ACT 561 of the 2022 Regular Session established a continuum of care program for pregnant women and parents of young children.
