DENHAM SPRINGS, La. — A shoplifting investigation at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Juban Crossing led Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives to recover several stolen firearms and seize a variety of narcotics during a search of a Denham Springs residence.
According to Sheriff Jason Ard, detectives with the LPSO Armed Robbery and Burglary Division began investigating Andrew Jenkins following a shoplifting complaint at the sporting goods store.
The investigation led detectives to a residence on Aberdeen Acres in Denham Springs, where Jenkins had been staying. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the property and located Jenkins hiding in a shed in an attempt to avoid arrest, Ard said.
During the search, detectives and narcotics agents recovered four firearms that had originally been reported stolen during a residential burglary in Denham Springs in 2007. The recovered weapons included a Winchester 30-30 lever-action rifle, a Winchester Model 1300 12-gauge shotgun, a Mossberg Model 835 12-gauge shotgun, and a Ruger M77 bolt-action rifle.
Investigators also seized several additional firearms, including a Colt Frontier revolver, a Smith & Wesson revolver, a Glenfield Model 25 rifle, a Revelation Model 330A rifle, and an ERA shotgun.
Authorities said a variety of narcotics were also seized, including anabolic steroids, human growth hormone, methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and THC vape cartridges. Packaging materials and digital scales were also recovered.
Detectives also located items reported stolen from Academy Sports, including a North Face jacket and a Streamlight Pro-Tac flashlight.
Three people were taken into custody on various charges: Andrew Jenkins, 42; Dustin Savignol, 42; and Taylor Sharkey, 33.
