DENHAM SPRINGS, La. — Members of the General Philemon Thomas Chapter of the Louisiana Society, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), recently visited Seventh Ward Elementary School to engage students with a living history presentation highlighting the American Revolution and the nation’s founding principles.

Chapter members, dressed in period-accurate 18th-century attire, provided students with an interactive educational experience designed to bring Revolutionary War history to life. The presentation emphasized the values of patriotism, service and civic responsibility while offering students a visual and engaging connection to the past.

Participants included members of the chapter’s color guard and fellow compatriots, who shared insights into the daily lives of Revolutionary War soldiers and citizens. The program aligns with the SAR’s mission to educate future generations and foster appreciation for the sacrifices made by America’s founding patriots.

“This is about making history real for these students,” said Chapter President Jim Moffatt. “When they can see, hear, and interact with the stories of our nation’s founding, it creates a lasting connection to the principles that shaped our country.”

The General Philemon Thomas Chapter regularly conducts educational outreach programs throughout the Baton Rouge area, partnering with local schools and community organizations to promote awareness of American history and heritage.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a national organization dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of the men and women who achieved American independence, while inspiring future generations through education and community involvement.
