Taco 'bout fresh food: Denham Springs Food Truck Festival draws sizeable crowd, supports local small businesses

On March 28, 2026, the historic Denham Springs Antique Village hosted a Food Truck Festival in its downtown district from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event featured more than six food vendors and a central eating area set up under a Sheriff Jason Ard tent in the heart of the antique district's shopping corridor.

Attendees were encouraged to browse the 21 locally owned shops lining the main street, stop by the food trucks for a meal or a drink, and keep shopping to their hearts' content.

Business started slow, likely thanks to chilly temperatures and stiff winds, but by lunchtime a healthy crowd had filled the walkway with hungry and thirsty patrons.

Taste of Prague proved to be one of the festival's most popular stops, offering hearty beef goulash, slow-roasted pork, and fried chicken schnitzel, with sweet kolaches for dessert.

Sonic's Slush Rush truck brought more than 30 varieties of fruity, flavorful icy slushies, a refreshing complement to any meal or a sweet treat for the ride home.

Mami's Mexican Fiesta Express served up healthy, flavorful options including grilled chicken happy plates and crispy tostadas, alongside a full kids menu featuring soft tacos, cheese quesadillas, and burgers.

Karlee's Cotton Candy tent turned out large, fluffy clouds of pink and blue cotton candy on sticks, a surefire hit with the younger crowd.

A welcome surprise came in the form of a booth for Spotlight Theatre Players, a local theatre troupe with more than 20 years in the community. The group sold homemade treats including chocolate chip cookies, fudge brownies, and colorful chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks, with proceeds going toward their upcoming production of Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry. The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama follows an unlikely friendship that grows across decades in the American South.

Spotlight Theatre Players will stage the production at 536 Centerville St. on April 16, 17, 18, 23 and 24 at 7 p.m., and April 25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased on location or online.
