In the heart of the Antique Village in Denham Springs, The Whistle Stop is a long-standing cafe that serves as a relaxed retreat for both locals and visitors. Known for its cozy atmosphere and community focus, the cafe offers a welcoming spot for lunch breaks, friendly meetings, and more with new operating hours.
The Whistle Stop first opened its doors in 1995 and has long been a known fixture in the area. Brandon and Courtney Richoux took ownership in August 2025, inheriting a rich history that they hold dear. The opportunity to buy the cafe came unexpectedly when the previous owner reached out to Brandon Richoux, a commercial real estate broker, but it felt like the perfect opportunity for the Richouxs to carry on the tradition.
As a family-owned business with a well-known past, community involvement and strong customer relationships are very important to The Whistle Stop. They are committed to maintaining a warm, familiar environment. As one of the owners, Courtney puts it, “The Whistle Stop allows people to slow down. Whether they are on their lunch break or meeting a friend, the atmosphere that has been created makes our business so special.” They have also recently expanded their hours to 7 am to 8 pm Tuesday-Friday and 8 am to 3 pm on Saturday, to accommodate more guests, opening a dinner option, and quiet study sessions.
One of the cafe’s more popular offerings is the Petite Trio, which features a smaller version of a sandwich, soup, and salad, making it a good choice for those looking for a lighter meal. Additionally, their coffee has seen increased demand since they switched their beans to Luma Coffee for higher quality.
The store is located at 180 Railroad Ave. in the Denham Springs Antique District and is open Tuesday through Saturday. Forms can be submitted online through their website, thewhistlestop.com, or through Facebook and Instagram. For orders to go, call 225-271-8801.
“We’re so thankful for our customer base and our amazing staff who have made this business like home.”
