Tickfaw 200 kicks off in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, La. — Louisiana's largest power boat poker run is underway in Livingston Parish, with the annual Tickfaw 200 running Thursday through Sunday at Blood River Landing.

The three-day event, which began Thursday, April 30, opens the private Springfield marina to the public for the only weekend of the year when non-members are allowed on the property. Boaters can pick up entry badges at the landing and get them punched starting at noon Thursday, Friday, or Saturday at stops along a 200-mile loop of South Louisiana waterways. Many of the bars and restaurants on the route are accessible only by boat.

Bands will play Thursday through Saturday night at the Fun House, the marina's open-air bar and concert space. Fun House bracelets are required for entry and can be purchased on site.

The Tickfaw 200 was founded in 1996 by the late Charles "Crazy Charlie" Albert as a way to support local businesses, kick off the boating season, and raise money for charity. Organized today by Tickfaw 200 Poker Run Charities, a Louisiana 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the event has grown into one of the parish's signature spring weekends, drawing performance boaters from across the country.
