A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the July 20 shooting death of Patrick Panye at the Parc at Denham Springs apartment complex, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jason Ard identified the adult suspect as Tavorian Kennedy of the Baton Rouge area. Kennedy is being held at the Livingston Parish Detention Center, while the juvenile suspect, also from the Baton Rouge area, is being held at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
Investigators believe a third person was involved and are working to identify and locate that suspect, Ard said. The sheriff’s office believes the shooting was gang-related.
Deputies responded to reports of multiple gunshots at the apartment complex off La. 16 at approximately 5 a.m. July 20. Panye was found dead at the scene.
