LIVINGSTON, La. – Livingston Parish Assessor Jeff Taylor and volunteers for Assess the Need successfully completed the 26th year of the parish-wide school supply drive, helping more than 3,000 students begin the 2026-2027 school year with the supplies they need to learn.

More than 100 volunteers collected donations outside the Associate Groceries across the parish over two weekends, and upon purchasing and receiving the needed supplies, they loaded them into cars that drove through a staging area at the Suma Conference Center in Satsuma for distribution at every campus across the parish.

“The magnitude of the effort is tremendous,” Taylor said. “This project is only possible because of the many volunteers, sponsors, and generous donors and supporters that we have.”

“We are very thankful for another successful year, and we hope the assistance we are able to provide for our students will give them the encouragement and tools they need to have a great start to their school year,” Taylor added.

Taylor added that donations will still be accepted through Venmo @Assess-The-Need-1, through the mail at Assess the Need, P.O. Box 1802, Denham Springs, LA 70727-1802, or by dropping off a donation at the Livingston Parish Assessor’s Office, located on Government Boulevard in Livingston; Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All donations are tax-deductible.
