Walker couple arrested on drug charges after narcotics investigation; both worked for Livingston Parish schools

A Walker couple was arrested on multiple drug charges following a month-long narcotics investigation that uncovered crack cocaine, heroin, 19 firearms, and evidence of a drug manufacturing operation at their home.

Reginald Stewart, 49, and Bridgette Stewart, 54, were booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center after LPSO narcotics agents executed a search warrant in the Walker area.

Reginald Stewart faces charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and Schedule II controlled dangerous substances, creation and operation of a clandestine laboratory, 19 counts of possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bridgette Stewart faces charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule II and Schedule IV controlled dangerous substances and creation and operation of a clandestine laboratory.

Sheriff Jason Ard said agents seized 19.6 grams of suspected heroin powder, 1.3 grams of crack cocaine, 19 firearms, packaging materials, residual crack cocaine on appliances, and cook stations.

Livingston Parish Schools Superintendent Jody Purvis confirmed that Reginald Stewart worked as a custodian and Bridgette Stewart worked as a bus driver for the district. Both are no longer employed by Livingston Parish Public Schools.

The investigation is ongoing.
