WALKER, La. – Students at Walker Elementary School received a wave of holiday cheer and generosity this week thanks to the United Cajun Navy, along with Ralph Williams, better known as Ralph the Baker, and his son Ralph Williams, Jr., aka RJ-Drip Cooking.
The two Internet cooking sensations teamed up with the nonprofit United Cajun Navy to deliver more than 1,800 toys, 300 pairs of shoes, and 700 plushies to the school, ensuring every student on campus received gifts. They selected Walker Elementary as the recipient of the gifts after one of Williams’ family members, a teacher at the school, shared that many local families needed assistance this season, and that Walker Elementary teachers and staff are committed to maintaining a strong, positive involvement in the local community.
“Walker Elementary is forever grateful for the generosity and support shown to our school,” Walker Elementary Principal Aimee Spearman said. “Our students were so excited to receive plushies, new toys, and pairs of shoes. The kindness shared with our campus this week will have a lasting impact on our children and our community.”
Spearman said the donations helped fulfill the school’s Angel Tree wish list. This existing school program sources donations for families in need and enables the school to extend holiday assistance to families throughout the Livingston Parish community.
The event was made even more magical with special appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who joined the Williams father-and-son team to hand out toys to students. Toys were also sent home with parents during carpool.
“The joyful reactions from the children and their families filled the school with holiday spirit and created heartfelt moments that will be remembered long after the season ends,” Spearman said.
The United Cajun Navy and its partners continue their mission to uplift and support families across Louisiana, especially during the holidays, when the need is greatest.
