WATSON, La. — A suspicious vehicle investigation at a closed bank in Watson this weekend led to the arrest of an adult male accused of traveling to meet a juvenile for sexual purposes, according to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with LPSO Uniform Patrol initiated the investigation after locating the vehicle at the closed business. Authorities said the vehicle was occupied by a 21-year-old man, identified as Nicholas Tate, and a 16-year-old female juvenile.
Sheriff Jason Ard said investigators determined Tate drove more than two hours from Alexandria to Watson to meet the juvenile after communicating with her on a social media platform. Detectives said the meeting was arranged for sexual reasons.
Tate was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on charges of computer-aided solicitation of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Sheriff Ard said the case serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by online predators and emphasized the importance of monitoring children’s social media activity.
