Local Talent Shines at Denham Springs-Walker Library Art Showcase

Exhibit highlights the creativity and passion of Livingston Parish Talented Art teachers throughout June

Visitors to the Denham Springs-Walker Library this month are being treated to a special showcase of creativity, craftsmanship, and personal expression — all courtesy of some of Livingston Parish’s very own Talented Art teachers. Running June 2 through June 30, the exhibit offers an intimate look at the professional work of four educators who not only teach art to local students but actively pursue their own artistic passions.

A Variety of Styles and Mediums

Among the featured artists is Dylan Stilley, a Louisiana-based multimedia artist with a focus on sculpture and woodworking. Stilley’s pieces reflect a deep love for his community and a desire to inspire others to find their creative voice. His portfolio includes not only sculpture but also drawing, painting, and even new media animation. Stilley hopes his work encourages viewers to connect with art in a personal and meaningful way. His work and more can be seen at his online portfolio.

Brittany Frederick brings a strong background in acrylic painting, pastels, graphite, and charcoal to the exhibit. A graduate of Denham Springs High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, Frederick now teaches Talented Art in Livingston Parish schools. Much of her work includes lifelike pet and human portraits, many of which have been commissioned by local residents. Frederick views her talent as a gift meant to enrich the lives of others — a mission reflected in her thoughtful and intimate pieces. Interested art lovers can find her work on her Facebook art page.

Phoebe Eunice, whose work features oil, acrylic, and gouache, uses her paintings to capture fleeting moments of beauty in daily life. A graduate of LSU with a BFA in Studio Art, Eunice spent years raising her six children before returning to art. Now, as a Talented Art teacher, she channels her years of quiet observation into vibrant, light-filled paintings. Her portfolio includes not only fine art pieces but also illustration and graphic design. More about her work is available at her website.

Rounding out the exhibit is Jennifer Labbe, a versatile creative with degrees in both Graphic Design and Elementary Education. A wife, mother of two, and children's ministry director at her church, Labbe brings her passion for creativity to every aspect of her life. Her acrylic works reflect a playful sense of imagination, influenced by her years in both the classroom and ministry.

Celebrating Local Talent

The exhibit serves not only as a display of individual artistic skill but also as a celebration of the Livingston Parish School District’s Talented Art program — a reminder that the parish’s teachers are also practicing artists dedicated to inspiring the next generation of creators.

Residents are encouraged to visit the Denham Springs-Walker Library any time before June 30 to enjoy the collection and support local talent.
