He grew up in Bunkie and graduated from Bunkie High School in 1974. Al was an amazing person who had a deep love for God, his family, and friends. He brought joy to those around him and cherished the wonderful memories shared with his loved ones.
Al loved spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He enjoyed trips to Texas, hauling trailers with his wife and their beloved dog, Jake. Al was known for his kindness and willingness to help others, always putting their needs before his own. He had a passion for cooking and looked forward to the holidays when he could prepare meals for family and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Marie Hukins Cook; his father, Albert Leo Cook; and his grandparents, L.P. Hukins, Mary Ina Chenevert Hukins, James E. Cook, and Florence Redmon Cook. He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Settoon Cook; his brother, Mel Cook (Susan); his children, Denise Cook McKenzie (Presley) and Dustin Cook (Jenni); his grandchildren, Benjamin, Patrick, Baileigh, and Rylee Clare McKenzie, Gavin and Natalie Cook, and Noah Barrette; and a special, lifelong friend of 62 years, John Ed Wright.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Hematology/Oncology Group and the infusion center staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. We also appreciate the entire team on the 5th Floor West and the Louisiana Cardiology staff for their excellent care, compassion, and support during his treatment. He loved each and every one of you.
Al will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew him.
