Bernice, age 62, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026. She was a resident of Livingston, LA and a member of Springville Baptist Church. Bernice was a loving mother and had a special place in her heart for children and truly enjoyed caring for others. Whether it was spending time with the little ones, looking after someone in need, traveling to new places, or enjoying a day of shopping, she found happiness in the things she loved most. Bernice had her own unique way of showing love, and those who knew her will always remember her for the person she was. Her quiet presence, caring heart, and the memories she leaves behind will forever be cherished.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Barney Fontenot; daughter, Christina Fontenot; son, Daiten Ash (Payten); grandchildren, Naomi Gill and Elaina Ash; sister, Theresa Zeigler (John); brothers, William Claude Needham (Bobbie), John Wesley Needham (Tracy); foster children, Chloe Louque (Eric), Chris Mayes; and sister-in-law, Marsha Needham.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lillie Mae Needham; and brother, Otis Earl Needham.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401 on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Zeigler Cemetery.
