OBITUARY | Gloria Glover Abels

Gloria Glover Abels, 91 years old of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026. She was born on Saturday, July 6, 1935, in New Orleans, daughter of the late William B. Glover and the late Eva Anderson Glover. Gloria worked as an administrator for the Workforce Program/Tangipahoa Parish Government. She retired from that position after many years of service. She was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church, a devout Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart, as well as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Gloria is survived by her two sons, Harold Abels II, and wife Amy; Brian Abels and wife Kim; granddaughters, Christine and Erin Abels; grandson Taylor Frick and wife Shelby; and great-grandson, Stetson Frick. She is also survived by her brothers, William “Billy” Glover and Lionel Glover, as well as many nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Abels Sr.; brother Ronnie Glover; and sisters, Mary Ann Glover, Naomi Glover Davidson and Pearl Glover.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Springfield United Methodist Church, 32165 Walnut Street, Springfield, Louisiana 70462 (P.O. Box 66, Springfield, LA 70462), or Samaritan’s Purse.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401 on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Irvin Boudreaux will officiate with interment to follow in Springfield Cemetery.
