OBITUARY | James "Jimmy" Achord

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear dad, James 'Jimmy' Morrison Achord on February 21, 2026 at the age of 85.

He was born on February 20, 1941 to Wilson Sr. and Zadie Harris Achord.

He was a native of Waker, LA, and a resident of Meadville, MS.

Jimmy never knew a stranger, known for his strong will and determination, he knew he could conquer anything you said was too difficult just to prove you wrong!

He always instilled confidence and courage in others. He was an avid fisherman throughout his life, a member participant in many local, state, and regional bass tournaments and he loved the outdoors!

He retired as an electrician and member of Local 995.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beth; daughter Stacy Blanchard; grandsons Blake Morrow and Evan Blanchard; parents Zadie and Wilson Achord Sr.; brothers Sonny Boy and Red Achord; sisters Margie McClure, Stella Sutcliffe, and Nina Achord.

He is survived by his sister Janis, Maxwell of N.J.; daughters Donna Holy (& Brandon), Tammy Cowart (& Mike), Kimberly Achord, and Laura Achord; 14 grandkids, 35 greatgrandkids, 8 great-great grandkids, and numerous neices and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Satsuma Baptist Church 29880 S. Satsuma Rd., Livingston, LA 70754 May 2, 2026 - 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for both Jimmy and Beth.
