Virginia Rosendahl Decker, born on April 20, 1931 and nurtured in the heart of Galveston, Texas, was called home to the Lord on June 25, 2026, at the radiant age of 95.
Virginia is survived by her brother John Rosendahl; children, Nelson Joseph Decker Jr., Debra Bergeron (Timothy Sr.), Brenda Decker, and Paul Decker; her grandchildren, Christin Barousse (Jared), Timothy Bergeron Jr., Danielle Bergeron, Lindsay Decker, Dawson Decker, and Ryann Decker; and her great-grandchildren, Brayden Barousse and Jaxson Kelley. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Rosendahl Sr. and Olene Rosendahl, and her siblings, George Rosendahl Jr. and Carolyn Nicolaidis.
Virginia retired from The Advocate, Sears, and her cherished role as a crossing guard at DSJH, where her smile and wave left an indelible mark on everyone’s hearts. She loved and devoted her life to her family. Virginia was a generous and compassionate woman whose kindness touched everyone she met. She had a gentle spirit, a caring heart, and a deep appreciation for God’s creations, especially nature and animals. Her love, faith, and selfless giving will be remembered always by those who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Galveston, Texas, at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.
